What moves air freight costs now
Air freight costs start with the market, before your shipment is even measured. Jet fuel is one of the largest costs of flying an aircraft, so when fuel prices rise, airlines pass much of that through. Aircraft capacity matters too. When fewer aircraft are available, or demand on a route rises, space costs more.
Seasons and disruptions add swings. Holiday peaks, new product launches, weather and conflicts that close airspace can all tighten capacity and push rates up quickly. That is why the same shipment can cost noticeably more one month than it did a few months earlier.
AirFreight.com quotes each shipment against current conditions. Your expeditor explains what is moving the cost and compares the options before you commit.
